By studying local businesses, this study examined the investment strategies that helped companies thrive and the mistakes that may have led others to struggle. The perceptions of business owners and managers of the Texas Panhandle, a regional economic location in the U.S., were examined using a cross-sectional Qualtrics questionnaire. Regression results showed that strategic investments positively predicted business performance and business resilience. Implications are offered for business and financial stakeholders interested in strategic business investments in rural development areas.
