Synopsis

With the exponential rise in decentralized systems such as IoT, edge computing, and distributed databases, ensuring secure and trustworthy data sharing is increasingly critical. Traditional centralized trust models are inadequate due to single points of failure, inefficiencies, and lack of transparency. This short research paper investigates blockchain-enabled trust management models as a resilient alternative for secure data exchange. It provides a conceptual framework, evaluates existing models, and proposes a taxonomy based on key trust attributes and blockchain functionalities. Our analysis includes comparative insights through charts and diagrams, highlighting how blockchain can mitigate trust-related challenges in decentralized environments. We present a synthesized literature review and summarize current trends, limitations, and future directions.
