Synopsis

The threat of global climate change and global warming being today’s stark reality, countries are increasingly adopting transition to clean and green energy. Additionally, now it appears like a race against time. The urgency or adoption bears its testimony. The Federal Government is emphasizing nationwide faster adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) to curb emission. California remains in the forefront of fleet electrification reinforced by generous investments in clean energy and robust policies. Expediting fleet electrification in California, necessitates removal of a key hurdle – the solidification of electrical service guidelines.
The state of California, a leader in green logistics, has set stringent emission targets. Most significant among them is low or zero emission from fleet vehicles to be achieved by replacing them with similar low-emission vehicles. Successful regional implementation will show other regions the way to transition through vehicle electrification, ensuring a gradual and sustained move towards achieving the global emission targets set under the Paris Climate Agreement. This article attempts to dive deep into the problems of fleet electrification to identify the key hurdles that need to be addressed on a priority basis to expedite the fleet electrification in the state through consolidation of guidelines commanding and regulating electrical services and in the process, promote green supply chain (SC).
